The Medical Reserve Corps is a community-based, civilian volunteer program that helps build the public health infrastructure of communities nationwide. Each MRC unit is organized and trained to address a wide range of challenges from public health education to disaster response.
Founded in 2002 as one of the pilot programs, the Franklin Medical Reserve Corps is now sponsored by Fairview Hospital in Great Barrington and exists to improve the health and safety of our community. We are made up of medical and non-medical volunteers who are trained to respond to public health emergencies and disasters. We also participate in service and outreach events that promote community health, emergency preparedness and resiliency.
Our goal is to carry a message of preparedness to community members and to be an effective and efficient response partner to hospital staff, first responders, and public health authorities throughout the county. To fulfill our goal we consistently offer cost-free training on a variety of topics to our members. Volunteers are always needed.
